FCHS Students and Guardians,

In consideration of  students being fully remote for the remainder of the First Semester, we will not be having First Semester Exams.  Students' First Semester Grade will be  calculated from their First and Second Quarter Grades.  The last two days of the First Semester, which are normally exam days, will be regular remote attendance days.  If you have any questions, please contact the FCHS Office.

Respectfully,
Jory Dial
Principal

Dear Families of Frankfort CUSD #168:

Tomorrow is our last day of remote learning until next Monday.  Please be sure that you check in with your teachers and your classes.  We will also have food distribution from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at our six locations of Denning, FIS, FCHS, the Aquatic Center, Pershing, and Orient.  Again, this is for our students and any child or youth between birth and age 18.

Then, we move to celebrate Thanksgiving.  For most of the last 100 years in this community, that has meant activities around family and alumni from FCHS.  For many years between the 1920s to 1983, it meant a football game against Benton – eventually as Homecoming and a time for everyone to gather.  Those traditions have continued with class reunions and other activities in town since that time – something I often pointed to as a unique part of our hometown when I taught senior American Government over 16 years ago.  When we gathered with family, classmates, and friends a year ago, we would have never imagined where we are now.

As of this post, athletics and activities are suspended and we are in full-time remote learning as positive numbers rise and quarantining is occurring.  Please work this week to keep yourselves and your families safe as you gather in smaller groups.  A century ago, the first group of students to walk through the halls of FCHS experienced the stress and loss because of a pandemic.  Those who made it through that time laid down the traditions that we still continue to celebrate today as Redbirds.  As we continue to take precautions as we await a return to normal, let us honor and appreciate each other and those who came before us as we continue our education and learning to be the next group of students and alumni to try to find solutions to the problems in our world.  For that is part of what going to school is about.

Finally, after seeing a story in the past few days on the amount of cooking fires that have happened this year as more of us use the home stoves and ovens.  So with hospitals already crowded, please be careful when you cook and, if it is a grease fire, don’t use water to put it out.

Until our next communication on Sunday evening, we wish a good holiday week.

Sincerely,

Matt Donkin

Superintendent of Schools
