Attendance at FCHS Home Boys’ Basketball Games
As we continue to follow guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois High School Association and with respect to our activities and contests as a member of the Southern Illinois River to River Conference, Frankfort Community High School continues to work to support all of our student-athletes and their families to the best of our ability. To this end, we are announcing an adjustment to our protocols in regard to attendance at FCHS Boys’ Basketball home games this season that will allow us to welcome two of each cheerleader’s immediate family members (i.e. parents, guardians, or grandparents) to attend.
In order to accomplish this objective and not surpass spectator limits, we will follow this plan. For JUNIOR VARSITY games, each JV player will be allowed 2 immediate family members to attend the game. In addition, freshmen, sophomore, and junior cheerleaders will be allowed 2 immediate family members to also attend the JV game. Then, we must clear the gym of all spectators between games.
For VARSITY games, only 2 immediate family members of varsity boys basketball players AND senior cheerleaders will be admitted into the gym.
For all games, per IDPH guidelines, all spectators will sit 30 feet from the court and must remain masked.
It is also our goal for cheer to perform on the court at the start of halftime of the Varsity game if both teams choose to utilize their locker rooms during halftime. (Due to IDPH/Illinois High School Athletic Association guidelines, boys and girls basketball teams do not have to use the locker rooms if they so choose.) Cheerleaders are welcome to perform to the Alma Mater. Again, due to IDPH/IHSA sideline spirit restrictions, they must “maintain at least 6 feet of social distance on the floor during routines, including when changing formations, and by prohibiting lifts, stunts, pyramids, and tosses as well as shared equipment (e.g., signs, flags, poms); avoid shouting, singing, and chanting.”
We are excited to see our student-athletes perform to the best of their abilities, albeit in a restricted fashion, due to the guidelines resulting from the pandemic.
Sincerely,
Jory Dial Angie Jilek
Principal Athletic Director
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am reaching out to you to ask for your help in completing a brief online survey, which I have provided the link to below. This online survey is known as The 5 Essentials Survey. The 5 Essentials Survey provides school districts with important information and feedback from students, parents and teachers on how to improve the school and help increase our students' achievement. The results from the survey will also be published on the Illinois State Report Card.
According to the research provided to us, information from the 5 Essentials for School Success has shown that schools that meet 3 of the 5 Essentials are 10 times more likely to improve student success, attendance, and achievement. Thank you for taking your valuable time to complete this survey so that we can continue to work together to provide the best educational opportunities for your students. The survey will be open from February 3, 2021, until April 2, 2021. Thank you again for your help with this matter.
The Five Essential indicators that positively affect school success are:
-Effective Leaders -Collaborative Teachers -Involved Families -Supportive Environments -Ambitious Instruction
